This is 5 minutes after the stitches came out.
I thought it looked so good considering there were 10 of them
dead center in the middle of my face.
I am so glad it's over and that it was so easy.
It's likely this will not be my last skin cancer surgery.
I was/am not careful. I spent way too many days at the beach in my teen years with
no protection and no aforethought or care for my future self.
But... I am very self aware both inwardly and outwardly.
I know every blemish and flaw.
My doctor told me that is key to battling this disease.
I am so glad that we caught this early and it was so easy to treat.
Our company is heavily involved in the Make a Wish program.
We have helped raise thousands of dollars and we have carried out
four proclamations. I struggle so badly when we announce each proclamation and start planning them out because one of my most special gifts is
C R Y I N G.
I cry at the slightest hint of anyone displaying any emotion, heartache or saddness.
I cry when I am sad, happy, frustrated, confused, anxious, scared or mad.
I am not able to be in the presence of these little sick kids.
I would be a bawling mess and that would be such a distraction.
But, I am able to help with decorations and all of the pre-set up work.
We had fun setting up for this most recent declaration.
Maybe I could have been Mickey Mouse???
No one would have seen me boo hooing under that big head.
Walt is working so hard this year in football.
On this particular day, it was 101 degrees.
He played offense, defense and special teams
plus he is also the punter.
He only sat out for 2 1/2 minutes of the entire game.
He was sweating everywhere there was to sweat.
I snapped a few photos while he was getting some water and taking a breath.
He looks like a 16 year old.
He never uttered a word of complaint. In fact, the opposite.
He was so ramped up and excited about their win and how fun this game is to play.
Rals could not resist the opportunity to sign himself up as a volunteer
at the Black Desert PGA Tour event that happened in our town this year.
He was a score keeper and it was intense to say the least.
First of all.... It was WAY TOO HOT for this time of year.
He walked 16,000 steps each day and drank 2 gallons of water.
He also hardly ate.
You know it's bad when he comes home and jumps into an epsom
salt bath immediately.
But.... he had a great time and the course it gorgeous.
He saw several friends and he really enjoyed listening to the
players strategize.
We had some sort of Super Moon which the pictures don't do justice.
It was amazing on my walk.
We also had a meteor shower and a comet flying by this month.
I didn't get pictures of those
The Property Management side of our office had a wild Halloween Party and we joined in on the celebration. It turns out, I am not too shabby at making balloon arches, so I made one and we tried to hang it. Each individual office was given a budget of $25.00 to deocrate. I spent $12.75 because balloons and streamers are SO cheap. It is the best way to go everytime. Balloons kept popping as they would hit the metal part of the ceiling and some people had some PTSD and were getting all upset.
Haha.... sorry.
I love these tights. I only get to wear them once a year.
This year.... twice.
They have bows in the back and I always get a ton of compliments when I wear them.
Peyton finally got her contacts and is no longer blind. Poor Girl.
She was frustrated for 2 days, but something finally clicked and now she is a pro at getting them in really fast. She has a super cute face and now that glasses don't cover it up, we get to see it more.
The doctor was SO involved and excited for her
For the kids 14th birthdays, we change their rooms from little kid rooms to teenagery rooms.
This year was KK's turn.
She wanted a shabby sheek theme with tons of flowers and lots of pink (her favorite color).
And she wanted a glam mirror and a swing and shelves to display her treaures.
Check Check and Check
I love how intent she is and how carefully she is making the lines.
She gets that from her dad
Also.... FINALLY some calendar appropriate weather
This was.... in my opinion... the greatest Halloween that I have had in 29 years.
We didn't have to purchase a single costume.
No money was spent on anything Halloween related.
We went to Mom and Dads and ate our weight in the most delicious soup
and we didn't hand out one single piece of candy.
It was so great. I loved it more than I can express.
Walt and 5 of his buddies Trick or Treated for the last time.
They came back to our house and had a candy exchange.
6 boys=6,000 pieces of candy.
I am so completely bummed out that October is over and 24 of the days were in the 90s or above. I feel completey cheated out of one of my favorite months of the year. We had fall harvest decorations up, but it didn't feel very fall harvesty ever. I wore 2 sweaters and had 2 boot days. That is dumb.
However.... no one was sick. No one was sad. We didn't have any tragedies or problems or worries. We just enjoyed General Conference. Which I have to pause and say sorry to the church entirely because every talk shared was written for me. I received POWERFUL answers to all of my questions and then some. I have never felt more loved, seen or heard. I am so grateful for this guiding, directing, helpful force in my life. I don't know how people do it without help. I need it everyday. To be guided by a Prophet is the most comforting gift we have been given. All we have to do is listen to him and live. I love how simple the gospel is and how much joy it brings to our lives. I am also SO extremely blessed to have a spouse who has his own, strong testimory. He is such a support and a strength to me everyday. I am also so grateful for the ability to CHANGE every day. To wake up and start over from mistakes made the day before and CHANGE. Repentance=change. I say that to my kids a couple times a week.
Repentance has so much less to do with sin and so much more to do with CHANGING, improving, bettering ourselves, becoming who we are divinely supposed to become.
Self reflection helps with this process too. You cannot change what you will not acknowledge is in need of adjustment. I have learned to love and hunger for identifying what isn't working in my life and then working hard to make the changes necessary for my personal growth. I hope it doesn't sound selfish, but I am absolutely obsessed with personal growth and the hard work and humility it takes to carry it out. I hope I can always have this desire. I have had a lot to work on in my little life. But, it is so rewarding when you can see the difference it makes in your life.
We also had Stake Conference. Rals spoke in one of the sessions. He is SO incredibly poised and confident in everything he does. He did an amazing job and I could not have been more proud to be his wife.
Great month.... could have been 40 degrees cooler though.
Heavy Sigh.....
