Two good birthdays in a row... what the heck is going on?

Without trying to sound unbelievably sappy, I will say that today my heart is filled with unspeakable joy. What a very great day I have had. I had the day off and I spent it with my very favorite boy in the entire world. And my favorite 9 month old in the whole world. And here is what we did.

First. We drove into Provo and stopped at Einsteins for a delicious bagel and a diet coke (the breakfast of champions) I had them put the cream cheese on the side and I dipped. Counting calories.... ya know?..... and then I sold some stuff that I no longer needed or wanted and I filled my pockets up with 200 bucks. Oh yeah baby. While we were right there, I couldn't resist and I made Raleigh drive around the campus of the Lord's school while I told stories. AHHHHHH. Good times.

Second. We drove into Murray for our 12:00 Fetal Fotos appointment. And I am happy to report that baby #6 is overactive and healthy and seems to be athletic and may be a little shy. But after a little coaxing "Tiny" uncrossed those legs to reveal the secret..... A GIRL!!! Yep another girl. So my doctor told me some women have too much acid and some have too much alkali. (Maybe I spelled that right). Anyway if you have too much acid you kill off the male sperm. So apparently, I do that... And now our family will forever and always consist of... A boy (or maybe we should we call him a miracle child) and FIVE girls. Including this little gymnast here.
We immediately started trying to make ourselves feel better with all the positives.... She'll have an amazing wardrobe. We won't have to paint the baby room. They'll be good friends... Girl names are easier than boy names... If we had a boy at this point, he'd be all femmy and unmasculine with all those sisters...blah blah blah

But let's cut the BS... the truth of the matter is we are going to have drama and periods and hair and makeup and did I mention drama (and periods) for the next 20 years of our lives... not to mention 5 weddings. Oh someone help us. (Tabitha and Dale... thank your lucky stars. Three boys are so much easier to raise than FIVE girls)

Third. We drove up to Park City with the Outlet Mall on our mind. The goal...new roller skates and a white pencil skirt for the birthday girl. Don't worry... there is not a store in the entire Western United States that sells them (white pencil skirts, that is) And as for the roller skates, I am looking for the white ones with the four orange wheels, NOT in a line (like they wore in Xanadu) Did I just date myself? Anywho... I came home completely empty handed. Unless I count the $400 we spent on new pink baby clothes... Color me sad and disappointed.

Fourth. When I arrived home I received the greatest gift from my life long friend, Wendy. A four page letter, hand written, on lined paper and a CD that I will treasure for the rest of my life. When I was a very young girl of 13, I was in a singing trio with two of my best friends (Wendy being one of them). We were very good singers... phenomenal for our ages. And Wendy made a CD for me of all of our greatest hits. I wish I could post a song on here. But, I loved my very thoughtful gift and it made my day. Thank you Gwendolyn Louise. You couldn't have given me a greater gift.

And finally. Did you know that Utah County has a competitive soccer league? Well it does. (Don't worry, I had no idea either) Well, last Friday, Allison was "discovered" playing soccer on the school playground by one of the coaches. And he somehow tracked me down and begged me to let him take her for 3 nights this week so that he could see her play. So it has been a whirlwind of a week of her trying out with this man and his wife and at 8:45 this evening they came over to the house to offer her the 12th spot on a 12 member team. She is the youngest at 7... this being a 9 and 10 year old team. And now I am going to have to send her around the neighborhood yodeling for money again so that I can pay for it. Why is it that we have to pay an arm and a leg for our children to have talents??? I wanted to say to the guy... you discovered her... you pay for it. But truthfully, I'd pay $4,000 to keep her busy this summer.

Oh and Raleigh won his softball game, and Quincey is going camping for the entire weekend, and Kami and Brent are coming to visit. See, I told you... a pretty great day. What more could a girl ask for on her 29th birthday (wink wink)?
