I didn't need that stupid gall bladder anyway

So, I had some heartburn.
It was pretty bad heartburn too (like I thought I was having a heart attack)
Worse than all my other pregnancies combined.
So I WebMDed exactly where my pain was and apparently, your gall bladder is in the same place your heartburn is.

So at my 20 week ultrasound, I said "hey, while you are looking inward, will you take a gander at my gall bladder and see what it looks like."

Well, it was not in great condition.
And needed to come out pronto.

Here we are leaving for the hospital
Bye bye Mama, good luck, be brave
I was admitted at 9:00 and they came and took me back at noon. So we sat there and watched Sports Center. It was actually really fun.
See my "no slide" socks.
As it turns out, they were very useful, what with all the fluids they gave me, I went to the bathroom at least a dozen times

Surgery

So, in recovery, I started having contractions. And that's really not good at 24 weeks. And as luck would have it, there is no labor and delivery in the new hospital, so exactly one hour after I came out of surgery, still groggy and a little disoriented, I took an ambulance ride across town.
My first ambulance ride
It was at least 108 degrees in the back of that ambulance and they put a warming blanket on me and I was too out of it to tell them to take it off and so when I got to labor and delivery, I had a fever. And my nurse, who was clinically insane, told us that my fever was 104 degrees (when it was really 100.4) and then she tried to give me Motrin, which is NOT ALLOWED. Gee whiz, lady.
There is the crazy nurse, Shauna in the background there looking like she knows what she is doing, but she really doesn't

Discharged

The following morning
The following morning we found ourselves back in the hospital for some additional baby monitoring
No contractions today. YEAH!!!
And poor tired Dad and sleeping sis came along for support.

Everything looks good.

So having your gall bladder out isn't that bad in and of itself, however during the procedure, they fill your abdomen up with gas so that they can get the scope in there. And then the gas gets trapped in your chest, shoulders and back and until the gas breaks down, the pain is unbearable. There were two times that it hurt so bad I couldn't breathe. And I turned into a huge panicked baby "oh Raleigh... help me... I am dying... come help me get up... no... lay me back down... turn me on my side... oh that's worse.... just shoot me right here between my eyes."

Other than that, no worries and hopefully no more heartburn.

So I loved it when the nurse told you that you would continue to have the same symptoms (just as if you still HAD a gall bladder) until after the baby is born...what the heck!! I'm sorry for all this pain you're having, I wish I wasn't "living" it with you. Maybe just another day or two and you'll be on the real road to recovery. You sure do have a cute baby!

Man that is serious stuff! I'm glad that your home now and able to recoup. That picture of little one there waving bye to you is absoulutely precious! Oh and I love those grippy sox. Man I wish I had a pair to wear around my house right now. Even when it's 115 degrees out I still wear socks on my feet around the house. I know crazy!

Well take care and rest rest rest:)

Oh my gosh, that is crazy! I'm so glad you and baby are ok. Jeeze, I love that you're smiling while your incompetent nurse fidgets with stuff in the background. Haha, that would drive me nuts!
