The Town's On Fire

Eagle Mountain caught on fire.  It was caused by some rednecks who were target shooting at the dump.  So it was appropriately named The Dump Fire.  On Thursday, it was just a little blaze on the side of the hill.  But on Friday, it was a different story.  It came within 1000 yards of some of our friend's homes in Saratoga Springs.  Our friend, Brian and his family were evacuated.  Several of our friends and their families found themselves at the High School.  It was scary.
Here is the view of the fire from the back door of my store
Here is the view from the back door of our bedroom
This is what it looked like at night minus the lines because I don't have a clue how to operate the SLR that Raleigh bought for me three Christmas' ago.  Whatever, you get the point.  It was close to our house and raging.
Raleigh pulled out the binoculars and Peyton jumped out of the bathtub and put on her "evacuation backpack" just in case
And our eyes were burning from the smoke
But we were happy anyway
Some of us were happy and weird and in their underwear...
And what event would be complete without the iPad?  Raleigh turned on his police scanner app so that we could hear all the incidents that were going on and how close it was to us and when we'd be evacuated.
This morning, we are still here.  And it looks so much better outside.  Thanks to all of our friends who offered their homes to us.  Luckily for YOU we didn't have to take you up on your offer.

We heard it on the news and were worried about you guys! Glad to know you are all safe and still in your home. I just hope that in case of an emergency that Pey has clothes in her evacuation backpack...it wouldn't be ideal to evacuate naked...well I guess some people would beg to differ.
Love you...hope your lungs are surviving!

Thanks for the update. The News last night made it sound like all of Eagle Mtn was on fire and we were concerned about you. We were happy to hear that it wasn't too close to you and then the news today is even better. Sorry for those who did have to evacuate but it sounds like most are getting to return home now. Pey looks cute with her little evacuation backpack...but I'm glad she didn't have to use it. The other kids look like they are enjoying the show. We hope the fire is completely contained soon.

I've been wondering about you guys.
Lol on that backpack and smile. What a cutie pie. Glad you guys are ok. Ps Quincey looks just like you in that photo. What a lucky girl to look just like her beautiful mom.

So happy you did not have to leave your home. We had a fire so close to our home in Santaquin we could feel the heat on our face. The following fall, the rain caused a huge mudslide. I love that Peyton was ready to go. She is so cute.

I wonder if that is the same fire that we heard about. Hmmm....man if if it was that was a huge fire for us to hear about it all the way down here. I'm glad to know that you guys are okay and didn't have to evacuate. Peyton is a doll! Too cute!

I have tried to leave comments a couple of different times and it keeps kicking me out when I send them. I am glad you didn't need to be evacuated. Could you imagine? However, it would have been a great excuse to come to St. George for a while :)
