2. Ace Hardware... In case you are asking... I buy at least 2 skirts a month from our local Ace Hardware Store. They have darling clothes there. Well, truth be told, it is hit or miss. You have to get there on a good day and they either have oodles of desirable wares or they have "Grandma trying to be hip" clothes. But, they are so cheap. I got my luscious St. Patrick's Day skirt there for $13.99. I know!!!
3. I'm done... I've said it before, but it bears repeating. Wo, be unto the child who ticks me off right before I post a new post. This time it is Allie. And here is why I have made a promise to myself that I will be an enabler NO MORE!! She has known for weeks, dare I say months that her book report was due today. And she started reading her book on Wednesday. It's only 215 pages, but she'll "give it a go". Needless to say, Thursday morning, she switched up her book to "The Hunger Games". MMMMMMMMMMMMM could it be that she's seen the movie and so therefore, doesn't really need to read the book? I don't want to speculate. Let's give her the benefit of the doubt, and say she read the whole thing in 2 hours.
Well, Thursday night was crazy. We had FHE. Allie had a Basketball game. And in my chaotic, on the verge of a mental breakdown, I spaced that I was supposed to help her make her book report bookmark. I started yelling at her to take a shower (like I do every night) at 8:30. Then at 9:00. Then again at 9:30. I finally had to resort to confiscating all of her electronics, which she is currently having a love affair with. (I haven't actually caught her in the act yet, but I'd lay a substantial amount of money down on a bet that she talks lovingly/sings to them as she plugs them in to be charged at night.) Taking them away DEVASTATES her. And gives me an exuberant amount of leverage.
Fast forward to Friday morning at 6:30am. I am walking on the treadmill at the gym and the text messages start coming in faster than I can read them first from Morgan's phone... then Quincey's phone... then from the iMessage app on the Pad. "MOM.... you forgot to do my book report. YOU forgot to remind me it was due. YOU were supposed to help me. YOU are going to make me fail that class...... Will YOU type it up and bring it to my school by 11:00....ETC"
And..... don't judge me. But I did. For reasons unknown to me, I do things like this. It's a result of a near lifetime of enabling. Covering up imperfections and pretending that life was rosy when it was the exact opposite of rosy is what I did for years and even though I have tried to overcome that flaw, it still creeps in every now and then.
So, I rush in to work and write a book report in like 13 minutes, print it and drop if off at her school. I'm a good mom.... I'm a good mom.... Jesus will bless me....
And to this moment, not a thank you or an I'm sorry has left the girl's lips.... I know because I have been waiting for it. And it ain't comin'.
And I could slit my throat.
4. Morgan studied and studied as she does with the goal of passing the driver's permit test on the first try. Anything less would be considered failure. And of course, she did it. I CANNOT believe I am doing this AGAIN!! I keep thinking... these life events are coming around too fast. But then I think... Wait until the triplets start doing things. I will have a baptism every year, a license every year, a graduation every year.
I am proud of her though. She will be a very conscientious driver. Not to mention pretty cute.
I might also mention there are 73 "selfies" like this on my phone currently. You think I'm joking. But I'm not....... 73.
And here we are at FHE trying to pretend we don't have massive stress headaches. I am a wreck right now. Every once in a while, it gets overwhelming. There is only ONE of me and SO MANY of them. And they all have problems of varying magnitudes that I am a part of and/or am currently solving. From college down to diaper rash and all kinds of drama in between. You have NO IDEA.
Is it at all possible for me to go on a vacation?

AAAHHHH...HELL no!! I would no way in HELL be doing that book report!
Because you will get NO thank you and now you will be required to do the next one. Let the girl FAIL and take away those damn electronics!
Cute skirt...and yes I TOO love Ace!
Congrats to Mo...and good decision on "No Drama". I feel a little surrounded by it these days myself and I about to jump off the nearest bridge.
Sometimes the "Haps" kinda suck.
Love you...hang in there!
Well I don't know what to say....there's just so much going on in my head.
I'm a little sad about Morgan and cheerleading because I think she would have been so good but she (and you) can definitely do without the drama because you have enough of that without "trying out" for it!! Congrats to Morgan for getting her driving permit. Yes, I think she will be a good driver.
I was so proud of Allie at FHE when she reported that she is getting straight A's. Little did I know that YOU are really the one who is getting the A's!! I'd be taking away her electronics though....for at least a month!! You need to have a sit down with her and relive the book report saga and point out a few things she might have done differently.
Oh dear....I guess I'm in the "Grandma trying to be hip" category because I've gotten a few things at Ace too. In fact, I got a couple of skirts there and every time I wear them I get so many compliments. I love it when someone asks me where I got my skirt and I can say "at the hardware store"....hehehe
As far as there being "SO MANY" of them....yes there ARE!!!! Good Luck with that!!!
Oh man. Not looking forward to grown up girl drama or book reports. Wish our hardware stores sold clothes...cause that skirt is darling. Loved kami's comment and your moms. :)
Oh Kaci. ..I relate to so much of this on so many levels. The girl drama thing, errrr....I hate it! We've never experienced much of it until this year and then bam Brilynn starts to high school and the drama begins. Its more than I can really take to be honest. As for the driving thing congrsts to Morgan and my condolences to you. Another driver to worry about.
As for the homework thing....I can't tell you how often in Blake's school years I did this. He was always appreciative but I do wonder if me always "saving" him is what has played into other problems in his life. Who knows at any rate, we as parents are all just doing the best we can. Sometimes we dont do things right but it was our best and in the end it all works out.
I think your an amazing mom and woman! And I think your kids are all pretty great too! Just remember we ALL have our own struggles in our homes in some way. None of us have it all perfect! But I know you are perfectly trying and that's what it's really all about!
Love ya!
JoLynn
Oh and I am going to rush to our Ace Hardware and see if you have any cute skirts. That's awesome!
