You know the thing about coming off two eventful months.... you feel like kind of a loser when you have one that is just kind of meh... June was a status-quo month, which normally would be awesome because that implies that we were just living life with no catastrophies or major challenging events, and who doesn't like that? But dang, we were boring in June. I hardly took any pictures and I deeply regret that.
I cried almost every single day this month. I was so stressed out and overwhelmed by a variety of personal health and several professional issues. My health continued to vex me. I saw a few more doctors this month, one of them being a "specialist". Dr Tudor was one of Kori's doctors. He is a hemotologist. I was referred to another hemotologist here in town, but by mom suggested I try and get my orders re-sent to Dr Tudor because he was such a good doctor to Kori and she thought I would like him too. I am so glad we did that. Because as it turns out, I really do have a condition and he found it. I was diagnosed with a condition called Essential Thrombocythemia Myeloproliferative Disorder. That is a freaking long name. The disorder is fairly serious, in that if I don't control it with daily medication for the rest of my life, I am susceptible to a heart attack or a stroke. The good news is Dr Tudor said to me... "you and I are going to be good friends for a long time," in other words, you will be my patient forever and I will monitor you every 3-6 months forever. What this means for MY personal peace of mind is.... I will see a specialist every 3-6 months who will be monitoring my body and watching me for various whatevers and catching stuff right when it appears and attacking it right away before it gets out of control. Which is healthcare perfection for me!! I also like knowing that there are reasons for some of my ailments and hopefully this medication will ease some of them.
Another thing that I HAVE to document is how blessed and watched over I am, once again. My mom calls my bonkers trip to the ER last month, a God Wink. Had I not gone to the ER following a freakishly weird series of events, I never would have had full panel blood work done and we never would have discovered that I had this disorder until I was in the throes of a heart attack or a stroke that I may or may not have survived. It was so much better to have caught this right now when it wasn't a tragedy instead of discovering it when it was. Additionally, I know that in May of 2022, all of my organs were spot on. I love knowing that.
Having said all of this... including all of the silver linings, this whole thing didn't do much to ease my stresses and anxieties.
My work life is total garbage right now. I had several moments where I let the stress and the overwhelmingness get to me. I had a very rough confrontation with one of my co-workers that has been a friend for years, but our work relationship has driven a wedge between us that I am not sure will ever repair itself.
I AM lucky to work with some pretty great people who are so supportive and who know what I do on a daily basis to make this place run.
I had to drive Raleigh's truck to work a couple of days to transport large items to and fro. I don't drive it very well... It's gigantic and so complicated. I freaked out the whole time thinking I was going to hit a building or parked car and have to go home and break the news to him. Before I backed out of the garage, he gave me several tutorials and then took my picture... most likely secretly documenting that there was no damage when I left.
We brought on two homes at the beginning of the month. It was chaos for three days like always. I tried to stay away until it was time for my part. I can't lie, I loved just being in there by myself after the chaos train left... setting things up. It was relaxing and no one bothered me. I needed that.
Not bad considering I am 10 out of 10 stressed out
I am every summer though
Hopefully this one will be my last
Blah.....
Kaleigh has a super under the radar sense of humor. It is very intelligent adult-like humor. She is able to be so funny because she is so informed. She knows everything about every HOT topic and so we will be driving along and she will just randomly burst out with the funniest remark about something she sees on the side of the road or hears on the radio. And 9 times out of 10, I have to google the person or thing she is referring to, to keep up with the joke. "Google, who is Amber Heard?"
Well anyway, one day we were driving along and Peyton was in kindof a teenagery, grumpy mood and she said something teenagery, mean to someone and Kaleigh goes: "Zip it Becky Edwards, no one wants to hear from you if you are going to be crusty"
"Google, who is Becky Edwards?"
Anyway, the name stuck. Peyton's new brat name is Becky Edwards. And she is Becky Edwards a lot.
Kaleigh put this on her door one morning. It has stayed there for 3 weeks now. I think Peyton's just embraced it. I feel badly for Becky Edwards. I am sure she is an extremely kind woman. It's not her fault that her name is someone's brat name. But it is SO funny everytime we say it. We all burst out laughing. Anyway, KK is SO funny for someone who doesn't talk a lot AND when she does finally speak, she whispers...Exactly like her dad.
The big girls have been traveling. Allie went to Seattle and ran into like 5 friends there. I go to the County fair where there are 10,000 St George residents and don't see a single person I know.... Allie goes 5 states away and sees everyone.
Quincey went up north a couple of times
and met a boy
Speaking of Allie... she is nothing short of amazing. She just became the Assistant Manager at her work. She makes a ton of money and has saved $15.000 so far. She owns not one, but two cars. For a not even 20 year old, that is so impressive. Here she is in her managerial shirt. So cute.
We celebrated our 14th wedding anniversary this month. As we always do, we didn't make a big deal about it.... but as Raleigh always does, we made a reservation at Anasazi and we cooked beef on a rock.
It was so good this year. And WE were so good this year. One of our best. It just keeps getting better and better each year. How is that possible?
I just really really love him
I work with a man who lives on a farm.
It's a way of life that I will NEVER be able to understand.
He brought me some turkey eggs one day. He left them on my desk at 2:30 and told me about them around 7:30. "Did you get the turkey eggs I left on your desk 5 hours ago?"
I said NO.... why didn't you tell me?
Now they are ruined.
He said... no, you don't have to refrigerate eggs until you have washed them, those haven't bee washed yet.
Well, I googled that and he is right, but I CANNOT and WILL NOT ever be able to wrap by head around the concept of unrefrigerated eggs. That is just NOT RIGHT!!
While these eggs are DARLING, I have never seen cuter...
I will NEVER be able to eat anything he brings to me from his death farm
We celebrated Mom's birthday at Sukura this year.
It was so delicious as it always is
It was good to meet Grant's new girlfriend who is leaving on her mission in July and to see Russ and Kori again. It's been a long time
We also celebrated our fathers.
We had pies and ice creams.
Garrett and Cecily came over that night to announce they are having a baby.
How exciting.
My good friend, Leona came down from Wyoming again this summer to help me with my busy season.
As always, it was a joy to see her and her daughters.
I loved having them and I will miss them.
We cried when she left. She is such a good woman. I am blessed to know her.
We wrapped up the month by celebrating Raleigh's birthday and Allie's birthday
and we took the kids to a new ice cream shop in town.
I am so glad June is over.
June was SO incredibly stressful for me and I am thrilled to have it go. It is a memory.
I learned some really powerful lessons in June and I corrected some things in my life that I hope will help me to feel better about working where I work for a while.
We watched THE BEST movie this month...
Jerry and Marge Go Large
I recommend it to everyone!
I continue to love Come Follow Me and the Old Testiment
I had some good teaching teaching experiences this month and some good connections with the kids who are finally coming around
I truly love the gospel
I feel so blessed that I have the family that I have. I just love that no matter what is going on in my professional chaos, I come home and the instant I walk in the door at home, all of that ridiculousness goes away. I love the feeling in our home and the people in it and the people who come over for dessert on Sundays
