I just got the call that every mother dreads

"Mom, I've been in a car accident. I am fine but the police need for you to come here and get me"

He was crying. And he wasn't making sense, so I knew it was kind of bad. He was trying to tell us where he was, but his directions were jumbled and he could hardly talk.

I kept saying "WHAT? WHERE? WHO? WERE YOU DRIVING?" Finally, he just said "I don't know where I am, I will just have the policeman call Raleigh's phone."

Luckily, we somehow stumbled on the dirt road nestled in the hills behind all the homes in our neighborhood. It was anything but a smooth ride to the bottom of the hill with hundreds and hundreds of pot holes and muddy mounds of dirt. The road was narrow. And down at the bottom... slightly around a corner, were 5 police trucks, lights flashing. There were about 10 police officers walking around with mile markers and tape measures. And there was the little brown car down at the bottom of the road. It was upright and was facing the wrong way. There were fresh skid marks leading up to it for about 250 feet and glass was everywhere. The left front tire was bent on the axis so it was turned wrong.

As we pulled up, Brayden and his friend Brandon walked over to us. Brandon (who traditionally is always present whenever Brayden gets himself into ANY trouble) was his usual unemotional self. Hair in his face. Calm. Very short. Brayden, on the other hand was red faced, tear stained, jarred, dazed, scared and so very happy that we were there.

Apparently, Damien, the driver, who's new name is Vin Diesel, was going 50 miles an hour on the pot hole infested road and was trying to "drift" which I think means he was trying to slide his car sideways on a turn. When he hit one of the bigger pot holes, followed by a mud bank and due to the fact he isn't that skilled at driving over corrected and couldn't recover and so my little boy, who was in the passenger's seat felt what it feels like to flip in a vehicle... twice or maybe three times.

I thank my lucky stars that all three of them had enough responsibility to put their seatbelts on before they left on their off road adventure and so none of them were ejected and miraculously only have minor injuries.

What a huge lesson. They are all sufficiently terrified. And poor "Vin"... his grandpa was big and looked VERY scary. I wish I had pictures. Maybe I can get them from THE POLICE REPORT.... ugggggggghhhhhh

What in the world? That is SO scary. I am glad that they are all okay. It sounds like it could have been so much more serious. Hopefully, they are all scared enough to learn from the experience. Brayden will probably never even try and get his license now. Poor kid. He will probably be super sore tomorrow.

Oh my goodness!!! That is SO SCARY!!! The only that would have been scarier is if he hadn't been the one to call you and you wouldn't have known if he was o.k. and if Brayden had been driving. That is so scary. So glad these boys are alright. I live in fear every time Blake leaves the house with one of his friends or he leaves driving. So scary!
