Thankful...... November 10th

Anyone who has followed my blog from as far back as when we were The Mighty Lunds will remember when Quincey didn't live with me.  Her entire 6th grade year was spent in Portland.  She chose to go there and I had to be supportive, even though it was so unspeakably hard for me.  I prayed every night that she would want to come back to me and live with me.

I remember the day she called and asked me if she could come live with me again like it was yesterday.  I was so excited.

However, when she returned, she had several problems.  She had a stomach full of ulcers.  She suffered from debilitating anxiety attacks and she had a 1.4 GPA.  I enrolled her in the local charter school hoping that the smaller school would help with her anxiety as well as the smaller class sizes would give her the much needed one on one time that she needed to turn her grades around.

She worked daily on getting her nerves under control.  Making lists and setting goals to help her focus on mental healing.  And slowly but surely she started to become a student.

Some nights I would hear rustling down in the basement at ridiculously late night or early morning hours, depending on how you looked at it and I would find her at the computer with her glasses on and she would be writing a paper.  I would say  "Quincey, go to bed!!"  And she would say  "just a minute, let me finish this."

Well, here she is all healed up physically and mentally and her GPA is a GLORIOUS 3.85!!  I just checked for myself.  And to beat all..... She is the Student of the Month for the month of November,  FOR CRYING OUT LOUD.   I am so proud of her and her willingness to persevere and her desire to NOT give up and her determination in accomplishing her goals.

It's November 10th.............  and I am thankful for Quincey

WOW...what a great post about lovely Quincey! She really is quite the girl and I have loved watching her progress. Congratulations to her on her Student of the Month Award...that's BIG stuff!

Along with all that you mentioned she is also very kind and thoughtful (to those other than her siblings). She texted me yesterday to see if we could go visit Grandma's grave on her (Grandma's) birthday next week. Isn't that sweet? So she and I will do that and take some flowers.

One last thing...she is really fun to go places with...people really pay attention when she walks in. It must be the fact that she is 8 feet tall and has the longest, most gorgeous legs EVER. No wait, it must be her face. No wait, it must be her stylish way of dressing. No wait, it must be....the list could go on and on!

I'm thankful for Quincey too and so, so proud of her!

This seriously brought tears to my eyes. I can't tell you right now how close to the service this hits with all that is happening with Conner and his knee accident. I know prayers are answered and I know that things can turn around and change. Thank you for a beautiful post!
