On Monday, I had to sign a lease on a home in the furthest point a person could possibly go in Hurricane. Which is unpleasant in and of itself. All was going well, no problems were anticipated. Until I jumped in my car to head back to the office and.................. NOTHING! No dash lights, no air conditioning, no power, no nothing. And to make matters worse, my phone battery was at 8%.
I knew Raleigh would be no help. So I called Brayden. Who was not happy to come get me at all. I know this because he said "um...............yeah, I guess, I can come get you, " as if he had any other options or plans for that matter and he breathed long, heavy breaths three times...so annoyed and bothered. And then I believe he sat on the edge of his bed in his underwear and watched an entire episode of The Brady Bunch. Then maybe he jumped in to the shower after he moseyed downstairs to look for something to eat in the refrigerator for like 10 minutes before deciding that there was nothing good therein. Then he probably stopped to get a bite to eat and didn't even drive through the drive thru either, before he got around to heading my way. At least that is what I had made up in my mind as the reason it was taking 8 times the minutes it should have taken for him to get to me.
All the while my phone was dying a slow and painful death, further isolating me from the world. Soon, no one would know where I was and no one would think to look for me HERE.
Luckily, I had a nice, empty, air conditioned home to sit in while I waited for him. I sat against the wall at first. Then I started getting very sleepy because I had NOTHING to do. And I began leaning, slowly. And then I started sleeping. And so I laid down on the brand new carpet. And I woke myself up three times snoring and each time I had to get reoriented because "where the heck am I? Who's house is this?"
Brayden finally showed up two hours later and took me back to work. I was so refreshed and rested. But carless. And almost instantly after getting in his car, I had forgiven him. He is such a darling son. So nice to me. So respectful and his contribution to our family in invaluable. I adore him with all my heart. Just because he marches to a low key, no worries, I'll get to stuff when I'm darn good and ready, drum is no reason for me to judge. I love him with all my heart.
When Raleigh got off, he picked me up from work and we drove back down there. He quickly diagnosed the problem as a dead battery and so we drove back into town, hoping there was a store that sold batteries. He bought a new one and installed it all while wearing his work clothes in 90 degree weather and not a speck of dirt got on his white shirt. He was calm, he never uttered a word of complaint, he smiled at me several times as if to say "I got this, Lover. Don't you worry about a thing." He didn't even seem to mind that while he was laboring away, I was snapping Instagram pictures of him. He's so awesome. What would I do without him?
Thursday was Grant's 14th birthday and we combined it with FHE.
The little kids loved the park and exhausted themselves.
Here they are on the "titty totter"
Papa joined in too
Then on Saturday, we got to visit with the Sandberg girls, who were visiting St. George for a Girl's Weekend. They are so cute. I babysat them when they were little. I remember when Cathy was pregnant with Val. I remember when Lindsay was born. They were such darling little girls. Such an admirable family. And they have turned out so well. They are good wives. They are good mothers. They are good looking and fun and funny. And I am so blessed to know them.

I told Dad the story about your dead battery, he said, "why didn't she call me?" I think his feelings were hurt a little, so just fyi...next time, call your dad.
Fun to celebrate Grant's birthday together and also to see the Sandberg's. Such a cute family. I hope you have a good week this week...no car issues, no irritable children, no sickness, etc. Good Luck with all that.

I hate car troubles. Good for Brayden for coming to your rescue. He is a good kid. And Raleigh is amazing for taking care of your battery without getting dirty.
The Sandberg women all look fantastic. I am sure that was a blast to visit with them.
